What is a Bridal/First Look/Couples Session?
A bridal session is a portrait session of a couple in their bridal attire on a day other than their wedding day. These types of sessions can take place before or after the wedding. The concept may be a little untraditional, but it can also be the perfect solution for couples struggling with how photography will play a role in their big day. In addition to that, I LOVE to shoot them!
What are the benefits of a bridal session?
There are so many benefits to choosing to take a bridal session! On the wedding day you have almost no time alone as a couple, but the bridal session is focused squarely on the two of you. Not having the stress and emotional pulls of a wedding day also gives you much more flexibility in the types of images I can create.
They also give you a greater selection and variety of images for your final album. It's always nice to pepper a big album with a few images from different locations to give it a bit of color and life.
Who should get a bridal session?
If you're looking to show off your dress one more time, or are just looking for an excuse to look good with your fiancé in front of the camera than a bridal session is perfect. But it's not all about vogue-ing it.
A lot of couples choose bridal sessions when they simply don't have as much time as they would like for photos on their wedding day.
It's also a great option if you want something a little different from the location of your reception and ceremony. Maybe the day is a little gray, or the environment is really natural and you're feeling like you could use some architectural or urban styled shoots to mix things up.
The good news is that a bridal session is within reach of most couples.
Some clients want photos for the sole purpose of creating memories together that will be displayed their wedding reception, or use them for creating a Guest Book for their wedding day, as well as posting them on social media sites that have event information. Sometimes it is just a great opportunity to have professional photos taken of both of you during this start of a wonderful journey.
ALL
portrait sessions require a retainer fee of $50 when you send a booking request, which will then be applied to
the full cost of your session. $25 of that fee is nonrefundable if you end up
canceling completely. You will also be required to sign a contract
before your session date is solidified. I will hold your requested date
for 1 week, to give you time to get those items to me. After that 1
week your date and time will be opened back up to the public as an
available time.
WHAT DO WE PLAN ALONG WITH OUR SESSION?
This session is a great time to practice what you want your hair and make up to look like on the day of the wedding. If you are looking at hiring a hair and makeup artist, now would be the time to go for a trial run. However, that works best if you are going for a more formal type of look. It is also a good time to have a trial run of your wedding boutique and boutonniere.
WHAT DO WE BRING?
Bringing a bag to help carry
additional items is always a plus. Here is where you would store extra shoes, jewelry,
hair products, etc. Keep it to one bag so that as we walk around to our
different settings we can make smooth and easy transitions.
PHOTO SESSION DAY – WHAT TO EXPECT
Bridal photos are perfect for capturing that moment in time of how stunning you will look in your wedding dress on that day that you count every second down to. Photos like this are ones you'll treasure for years. You'll want to make sure you are prepared and ready to make the most of our time together. This means a few things. First, make sure to schedule your session during a time when you will be at your best mentally and physically. Staying up late the night before an early morning session is not always the best use of time, or the wisest choice. Similarly, packing a day full of other errands or appointments, when you have an evening session, creates unneeded stress and it will show in your photo session. In other words, come well-rested and fed, and stress free! Depending on your location of choice, there will be good and bad times to photograph. I will make suggestions on when we'll get the best outcome. Do not worry if you feel uncomfortable in front of a camera. It happens to most people. My job is to get you relaxed and comfortable so that it just feels second nature to have someone pointing a camera at you.
AFTER PHOTO SESSION DAY – WHAT TO EXPECT
After your photo session you will be anxious to see your photos, and I'll be anxious to share them with you! It generally takes 2-3 weeks to prepare your images. During busy season the time frame is 3-4 weeks. Once they are ready I will set up an appointment with you where you can come and view your photos in person. From those photos you will choose your favorite shots within your package allotment.
Choose a base session and add on as much as you want. Session fee does not include portrait orders.

1 hour BRIDAL ONLY session for $350 plus tax ($373.98)
- 1 location of my choosing (mileage extra outside 20 mile radius)
- 15 photos edited on a CD or you can provide a memory stick
- Receive a free 8x10 when you order OR
- $15 credit towards order (order total must be at least $20 above credit)
- Receive a $25 gift certificate towards a future session when you refer a friend for an hour session
Upgrade to a 2 hour session for $550 plus tax ($587.68)
- Up to 2 locations of choice (mileage extra outside 20 mile radius)
- 35 edited photos edited on a CD or you can provide a memory stick
- Free 8x10 (2) or 8x10 (1) and 5x7 (1) when you order OR
- $30 credit towards order (order total must be at least $40 above credit)
- Facebook header included with your order
